This post sits within the Capital Project function. The department is primarily focussed on facilitating and developing the future capital investment strategy and related transformation and planning for NHS Highland (NHSH).
This post will support the efficient and professional management of the Lochaber Redesign programme. This is a highly complex programme involving service change across acute, community, and partnership services within the Lochaber region, and the construction of a new rural general hospital (estimated at approx. £170m). This role will focus on delivery of the infrastructure elements, and in particular on ensuring clear information governance and quality is delivered throughout the design and commissioning process and into operation.
It necessitates the ability and confidence to effectively navigate design and construction, and manage stakeholders both internally and externally. It requires knowledge of NHS Highland operational processes and infrastructure delivery processes, in addition to nationally mandated assurance and governance processes related to design and construction projects.
The postholder will bring expertise and discipline relating to how the design, construction and delivery of a construction project should be structured and delivered to ensure a successful outcome and ensure that the identified and agreed milestones are delivered or flagged.
The postholder will support and work alongside the wider project delivery team and external delivery partners to ensure successful outcome.
Key Skills Required
* Leadership, the ability to be a positive role model and actively promote the Lochaber programme and NHS Highland’s vision, strategic objectives and values
* Communication and engagement, the ability to clearly and effectively communicate across all levels of internal and external stakeholder.
* Programme management skills and experience
* Risk management skills and experience
* Knowledge and experience of processes required to deliver and commission major infrastructure projects, including Building Information Management
* Knowledge and experience of relevant assurance processes.
* Stakeholder management skills, to develop good working relationships with all stakeholders, external and internal, including ability to provide constructive challenge.
* Flexibility in terms of approach and the ability to prioritise
* Innovation and quality, being invested in using the best practice from within the NHS to inform assigned programmes and projects.
This role will require some travel to the Lochaber region for the duration of the project which is expected to last at least 5 years. Thereafter the post will be involved in similar projects which may be located and require travel across NHS Highland.
This is a permanent, full-time post of 37 hours per week, worked in accordance with service requirements.
