Working from our Birmingham and Leamington Spa depots to enable the Company to achieve the agreed contractual standard of service by completing initial training in the workshop reconditioning wheelchair equipment to gain essential product knowledge. On completion of initial training this will enable you to work out in the field delivering and collecting equipment whilst undertaking further training for repairing and servicing wheelchairs. The expectation is that once fully trained most jobs will be completed on a first time fix basis.
Hours: 8.00am – 5.00pm, Monday to Friday. Location: Birmingham centres.
Key Responsibilities
* Servicing and repairing Powered and Manual wheelchairs in the field with the aim of achieving a first time fix whenever possible.
* Delivering and collecting wheelchairs to and from service users homes and NHS departments, always ensuring that the Company Infection Control Policy is followed.
* Read and complete all job paperwork with necessary information regarding parts used and actions taken, to enable the administration team to update the database.
* Use PPE provided for all duties as instructed.
* Undertake out of hours responsibility when rostered, once fully trained.
* Observe regulations covering the driving and use of the Company vehicle on public highways and be aware of responsibilities under Health and Safety at Work Act.
* Keep the vehicle tidy and ensure stocks of all necessary parts are replenished daily.
* Complete weekly vehicle safety checks and van check sheets.
* Maintain professional customer service, wear uniform and identification badge, and keep the uniform clean and laundered.
* Prioritise and organise workload, consulting Line Manager as appropriate.
* Maintain and safeguard all tools and equipment provided by the Company as outlined in the handbook.
* Agree to undertake training necessary to maintain the required skills.
Qualifications
* Full UK driving licence
* Successful enhanced DBS check (company paid)
* Able to move and handle loads and equipment safely
* Experience of face-to-face customer contact preferred
* Awareness and understanding of people with disabilities
* Flexible approach to working conditions and environment changes
* Ability to use own initiative within set boundaries
* Ability to use a mobile phone to relay photographs
* Good written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to relay clear instructions to clients
* Basic computer skills for diagnostic purposes
Physical Demands
* Moving and handling of equipment following handling guidelines
* Standing at a bench to work
* Kneeling/crouching
* Use of ramps and any other agreed moving equipment
