The Role
As a personal care assistant, you will join our client’s support team, providing reliable care and support in their home. You will be employed by HomeCareDirect on behalf of the client, focusing solely on their needs. The role is part-time, 20 hours per week on Thursdays and Fridays.
About the Client and Duties
The client is a quiet gentleman interested in Manchester United, gaming, reading, and crime programmes. Your responsibilities include motivating him to complete daily chores, assisting with housework and cooking, and accompanying him to social activities and appointments. Personal care is not involved unless during/after a seizure, and knowledge of mental health and autism is advantageous. You should be comfortable around dogs, as the family has an energetic cockapoo.
Requirements
* Genuine occupational requirement to recruit male support workers only (exempt under The Equality Act 2010 Schedule 9 Part 1)
* Experience in mental health
* Comfort working around dogs
* Reliable, compassionate, and respectful of confidentiality
* Commitment to long-term, person-centred care
Training and Support
We provide comprehensive, paid training to CQC standards, including induction, safeguarding, health & safety, first aid, food hygiene, medication care, mental health awareness, challenging behaviour management, and more. All training must be completed before start, with paid hours at minimum wage.
