About Us:
THE EXTRAORDINARY STORY OF GIRO’S PERSUASIVE POWERS
The Environment and City Management team in Westminster City Council is a world of extraordinary stories. We love it when our work touches lives.
Take Stepping to the Beat, our 3k walk, jog, or run for people with learning or physical disabilities or Autism, their families, and carers. It’s a life-affirming, music-based event. Coreen and Claudia are massively proud of it and keen for people to spread the word.
One of our residents, Giro, did just that. Advocating for people with disabilities at a planning meeting for transport in London, he wore his event medal. He used it to encourage others, inspiring more people with disabilities to get involved. Infectious enthusiasm goes a long way here.
The Role:
As an Outdoor Activity Assistant Instructor at Westminster City Council's outdoor activity and residential centre near Guildford, you can make a meaningful contribution. This apprenticeship scheme aims to equip you with skills, knowledge, and qualifications to do good for people across Westminster. You’ll provide high-quality education and adventure sessions, lead environmental education topics, and run challenge activities for visitors and charity customers.
You’ll also undertake conservation and grounds management tasks, supporting the Grounds person with basic tools and equipment.
This role is flexible; some evenings and weekends may be required.
This is an entry-level position. While experience with children, adventurous activities, or conservation is desirable, enthusiasm, passion, and empathy are most important.
You’ll be a team player, able to motivate and communicate effectively with children and adults. Flexibility and willingness to live in shared accommodation are essential. You’ll receive comprehensive training and support to advance your career and contribute positively to the environment and community.
Westminster City Council supports Care Leavers into employment. Care Leavers meeting the role’s essential criteria will be invited to interview automatically.
