Job Summary About the Defence Infrastructure Organisation and Major Programmes and Projects DIO is part of the Ministry of Defence (MOD). We play a vital role in supporting Defence by leading and managing the delivery of what the Armed Forces need to live, work, train and deploy on operations. Major Programme & Project Delivery (MPP) is accountable and responsible for the delivery of infrastructure capital projects to support the Front-Line Commands (FLCs) in the UK and overseas. MPP provides infrastructure project delivery and expert input to the early development of programmes and projects across the FLCs both in the UK and overseas. MPP has adopted the principles of Portfolio, Programme and Project Management (P3M) champions them across DIO. About DIO MPP Navy, Air & DE&S (NADES) Directorate The DIO MPP NADES Directorate manages an £8.4bn portfolio of work, covering three distinct customer groups across a dispersed geographic area. This includes all capital construction work undertaken in the UK on behalf of the Royal Navy, Royal Air Force, Defence Equipment and Support as well as elements of the Defence Estates Optimisation programme. The new customer focused NADES directorate strives to build commonality and consistency of service across the portfolio, delivering outstanding service in terms of time, cost and performance, in a safe and responsible manner. The Reporting and Insights Lead plays a pivotal role in delivering high-quality, data-driven reporting outputs that support both corporate and customer governance across a diverse stakeholder landscape. Collaborating closely with PMO leadership, the role ensures the provision of accurate, timely, and insightful data artefacts to inform strategic decision-making. It provides oversight and leadership across Reporting, Assurance, Learning From Experience (LFE), Standards, and Data Quality functions, with a strong focus on continuous improvement through data analysis. The post holder will lead the development of programme-level dashboards, enhance management information tools, and drive improvements in data quality and reporting maturity. By analysing delivery data and project change impacts, the role supports forecasting and planning for future programmes of work, ensuring alignment with customer expectations and organisational goals. Person specification Working within a high-profile capital infrastructure delivery team, the Reporting and Insights Lead will be responsible for: Leading the development and delivery of coherent, data-driven reporting outputs to support the MPP governance drumbeat. Designing and maintaining programme-level dashboards that provide clear visibility of performance and delivery progress. Conducting data analysis to generate actionable insights that drive continuous improvement across the programme. Enhancing existing management information (MI) tools and dashboards to support strategic decision-making. Producing high-quality governance artefacts using validated data for DIO and customer meetings. Delivering regular reports, dashboards, and performance summaries with a focus on clarity, accuracy, and timeliness. Ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and completeness across all reporting outputs. Collaborating with data owners to resolve discrepancies and improve data quality and reporting standards. Overseeing the Gateway Review Pipeline, ensuring actions are tracked and insights are used to strengthen delivery assurance. Leading the collation and analysis of Health & Safety (H&S) and Learning From Experience (LFE) data to inform future project delivery. Managing a small team, including 2 x HEOs and 1 x EO, fostering capability in data and reporting. Essential : Full UK Driving Licence Due to the nature of the role and the team being spread across the UK, there will be a need for travel to various DIO sites. Visits to Construction Sites may be required to remote areas that are inaccessible by other transport means.
