The Role
The role of Homeless Prevention Officer is based at Tameside Housing Advice which is the homeless prevention service for Tameside, offering advice, information and housing options for people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
As a Homeless Prevention Officer you will ensure effective access to housing advice and assistance to prevent or relieve homelessness. You will have a busy and varied workload that will involve completing homeless assessments to proactively determine the duties owed to applicants and prevent homelessness through timely and appropriate actions under the current homeless legislation including developing and managing a Personal Housing Plans. To ensure vulnerable customers are supported with their housing and address their support needs in accordance with the council’s policies, relevant agreements and legislation.
About You
You will be a great multitasker and be able to manage and prioritise a busy workload. You will have the ability to analyse, process and retrieve information via computer records and prioritise complex tasks. Have a high level of customer service skills. Be a team player and be able to build strong working partnerships. It would also be an added advantage if you were able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the Housing Act 1996: Part 6 & Part 7 and other relevant regulations and legislation
