At AEPartners UK, we connect top talent with leading engineering and manufacturing businesses. Our client, based in Washington specialise in the design and manufacturing of bespoke low voltage (LV) switchgear but also produce distribution boards, panel boards, transformers and containerised substations to meet client requirements. They are looking for a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Manager to drive growth and strengthen our position in the industry.\n\nAbout the Role\nThe ideal candidate will play a crucial role in driving business expansion, fostering relationships with key clients, and identifying new market opportunities.
You will be responsible for developing and executing strategic plans to increase sales and market share. Reporting to the Managing Director and working closely with sales and estimating.\nThis is a challenging but extremely exciting and rewarding role, a great opportunity to be part of a stable organisation experiencing growth.\n\nPrimary Responsibilities\nMarket Expansion: Identify new business opportunities, both locally and nationally, in the switchgear and electrical industry.\n\nSales Strategy: Develop and implement sales strategies to increase revenue, enhance profitability, and improve the overall market positioning of the company.\n\nClient Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients while identifying and securing new customers. Act as the primary point of contact for key accounts and foster long-term partnerships.\n\nNegotiations & Contracts: Lead contract negotiations with prospective clients and ensure all terms meet company objectives and profitability targets.\n\nMarket Intelligence: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, competitor activity, and customer needs to identify market gaps and opportunities for growth.\n\nCollaboration: Work closely with internal departments such as production, engineering, and finance to ensure the successful execution of projects and customer satisfaction.\n\nProposal Development: Liaise with estimators in the preparation of tenders, and bids ensuring alignment with customer requirements and company capabilities.\n\nReporting & Forecasting: Track and report on sales activities, market trends, and performance metrics to senior management.
Develop sales forecasts and pipeline reports to ensure alignment with company goals.\n\nKey Requirements\nHNC/HND Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering\nA minimum of 3 years of business development experience in an electrical, or related\nindustry.\nKnowledge of switchgear products, electrical systems, and the power industry.\nProven track record of successfully driving sales, securing new business, and increasing market share in a competitive environment.\nExcellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a strategic mindset.\nAbility to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities.\nProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).\nRight to work in the UK\n\nDesirable (but not essential)\nBS 7671 – 18th Edition\nValid CSCS card\n\nWhat We Offer\nCompetitive salary and benefits package including private healthcare and health cash\nplan policy\nFully expensed company car\n25 days annual leave + Bank Holidays\nCompany pension scheme\nSponsorship towards professional development and training opportunities\nA collaborative and supportive work culture
