Job Title: Part-Time Teacher of History and Citizenship ( Timetable)
Location: Secondary School, Leeds
Contract Type: Fixed-Term (September 2025 – December 2025)
Working Hours: Full-Time Equivalent (approx. 4 days per week)
Salary: MPS/UPS (pro-rata, depending on experience)
Job Purpose:
To deliver high-quality teaching and learning in History and Citizenship to Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students, fostering a passion for the subjects and supporting students’ academic and personal development.
Key Responsibilities:
Teaching and Learning
1. Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons in History and Citizenship.
2. Use a variety of teaching strategies to meet the needs of all learners.
3. Assess, record, and report on the development, progress, and attainment of students.
4. Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect, curiosity, and critical thinking.
5. Prepare students for internal assessments and external examinations (where applicable).
Curriculum and Planning
6. Contribute to the development and review of the History and Citizenship curriculum.
7. Collaborate with colleagues to ensure consistency and progression across year groups.
8. Integrate cross-curricular themes such as British values, diversity, and global citizenship.
Pastoral and Safeguarding
9. Act as a form tutor (if required), supporting the pastoral care and well-being of students.
10. Monitor student behaviour and attendance, and liaise with pastoral staff as needed.
11. Uphold the school’s safeguarding policies and procedures at all times.
Professional Development
12. Participate in staff meetings, INSET days, and CPD opportunities.
13. Reflect on teaching practice and engage in professional dialogue to improve outcomes.
Person Specification:
Essential:
14. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
15. Degree in History, Citizenship, or a related subject.
16. Experience teaching History and/or Citizenship at KS3 and KS4.
17. Strong classroom management skills.
18. Commitment to inclusive education and safeguarding.
Desirable:
19. Experience teaching GCSE History or Citizenship.
20. Familiarity with current educational developments and curriculum changes.
21. Ability to contribute to extracurricular activities or enrichment programmes.
