The Opportunity Physical Security We are seeking a Graduate Security Systems Engineer to join our physical security team. In this role, you will develop expertise in the design, specification, and implementation of physical security measures across a range of projects. You will be supported by senior engineers and follow a structured development programme accredited by the IET, with a clear pathway toward chartership through the Register of Security Engineers and Specialists (RSES) and the Security Institute. You will work within multi-disciplinary design teams—alongside architects, engineers, cost consultants, and project managers—to integrate security solutions into complex built environments. Operating within a risk-based framework, you will contribute to the development of mitigation strategies and produce designs aligned with project requirements. Early project involvement includes contributing to Security Needs Assessments and Threat, Vulnerability, and Risk Assessments, in collaboration with our threat specialists and in alignment with guidance from the National Protective Security Authority (NPSA), the UK's technical authority for protective security and part of the MI5 security services. As a graduate in Arup's physical security team, you will benefit from a well-defined career progression route, gaining exposure to high-profile international projects, contributing to research and publications, and developing into a recognised security consultant.
