About the Role
Leeds City College are seeking a dedicated Cover Supervisor with knowledge and experience in the primary school or early years sector to join our Education and Early Years Department. Our team of over 30 staff supports around 600 students, helping them progress to further study, employment, or higher education.
In this role, you will support students aged 16–19 by delivering planned lessons, supervising classes, and maintaining a positive learning environment. You will also assist teaching staff by preparing resources, supervising small groups, and contributing to the smooth running of the department.

What You Will Do
1. Supervise classes using pre-set work and ensure students remain engaged and on task.
2. Clarify instructions and provide academic support during cover sessions.
3. Record attendance and provide feedback on student progress to relevant staff.
4. Support a caseload of students, including monitoring progress and offering guidance.
5. Work in partnership with curriculum teams to ensure consistency in delivery.
6. Adapt to cover lessons across different course levels as required.
7. Participate in additional duties such as invigilation, enrichment, or pastoral support.
8. Maintain a safe and respectful learning environment and attend relevant internal meetings
About You
9. You MUST have knowledge and experience in the primary school or early years sector.
10. You will be confident, approachable, and passionate about supporting young people to achieve their best. With strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships, you will engage and motivate students aged 16–19, creating a supportive and respectful learning environment.
11. You will have good classroom management skills and the ability to maintain a calm, purposeful atmosphere, even when faced with challenges.
12. Your organisational skills, flexibility, and ability to use your initiative will allow you to adapt quickly to changing situations.
13. Experience of working with young people in an educational setting is desirable, along with a good standard of computer literacy to support lesson delivery and communication.
14. You will be committed to creating a positive, inclusive classroom experience, ensuring students feel supported, safe, and encouraged to develop both their academic and personal skills.
