Working Pattern

Term time only - 37.5 hours per week on-site from the Sound Communities office space/studios (to include some unsociable hours including Saturdays)

Contract type

This is a fixed term 12-month contract, subject to successful 3-month probationary period

Overview of role

We are looking for a creative, inspirational, proactive and experienced Practitioner with a proven track record of working in education settings and experience of working with students with SEMH needs and those facing numerous disadvantages. You will most likely have experience working with Key Stage 3 and above.

You will help deliver our exciting creative media offer to young people across Torbay and South Devon, working with mainstream schools, special schools, community centres, community events, those engaging with the justice service and our own alternative provision. You will also be expected to work in term time on Saturdays supporting our Saturday Xtras studio sessions.

Your role will be based from our studios in Paignton. Your day will require time spent on planning, delivering and reflecting on high quality sessions to young people as and when required. You will also contribute to young people’s journeys in inspiring them to achieve their greatest aspirations, whether through social and emotional support or academic qualifications. You will need to be dedicated to improving the lives and outcomes of vulnerable young people who face multiple challenges.

There may also be opportunities to contribute towards project management aimed at improving the wellbeing and aspirations of some of the most vulnerable young people in the South West.

You will have experience of working with young people and experience of using creative digital technologies, especially around music production. You will have either real world experience or a qualification evidencing a high level of skill in music production.

The successful candidate will be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. You will be supported by an experienced team of colleagues in this exciting opportunity involving the development of our provision.


Responsibilities

* To deliver on workshops and 1:1 learning sessions
* Developing resources to support effective development
* Develop project-based learning programmes
* Attend training relevant to the role
* Contribute to our outreach and youth work programmes
* Supporting quality framework
* Reporting to senior management on an on-going basis
* Contributing to behaviour management of vulnerable participants
* Contribute to monitoring and evaluation
* Being aware of, and complying with, policies and procedures relating to child protection, health and safety, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns appropriately
* Communicating with other staff across the other Sound Communities strands
