Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust – Administrator (Receptionist)

Closing date: 11 May 2026

We are recruiting a part‑time Receptionist (22.5 hours per week) to join the front‑of‑house team at Alexander House in Knaresborough. As the first point of contact for Service Users, Carers, Staff and External Partners, you will provide excellent customer service in a mental health setting.

You must have the right to work in the UK. This position does not meet the eligibility criteria for sponsorship.


Main Duties

* Greet service users, carers and external partners face‑to‑face and answer queries via telephone.
* Manage incoming and outgoing post, room bookings, stationery orders and prescriptions.
* Handle petty cash, book taxis or patient transport and arrange collection of pathology samples.
* Update clinic lists, maintain visitor logs and support accurate data entry onto the Trust patient database.
* Ensure reception area information for staff and the public is clearly displayed and updated.
* Maintain confidentiality, remain calm under pressure, and promote a positive culture for people with mental health issues and/or learning disabilities.


Qualifications

* BTEC Diploma/Level 2 qualification in a relevant field or equivalent experience; willingness to progress to Level 3 in Business and Administration.
* Literacy and numeracy Level 2 (or O Level/GCSE grade C or above).


Knowledge & Experience

* Understanding of confidentiality and its maintenance.
* Knowledge of visitor reception, telephone handling and accurate message taking.
* Experience of general office duties and data inputting.


Skills

* Excellent verbal and written communication; articulate and appropriate to the audience.
* Attention to detail, ability to prioritise workload and work autonomously within procedures.
* Team player capable of sharing knowledge and supporting colleagues.
