The Opportunity This role sits within the Global HSS function with strong links to the Commercial teams, including remote and office based workers. The role holder is responsible for developing and maintaining effective and engaging programmes to raise awareness of HSS standards to ensure that health, safety and sustainability risks which lie outside of the Manufacturing and Supply teams are controlled. The role will promote and support the evolution of a mature HSS culture across the whole Dechra Group, driving continuous improvement in standards and behaviours. Role Responsibility So, what will you be doing? This role has a broad and varied remit and the successful candidate will have responsibility for duties including: Collaborate with HSS contacts across the Group to build competence and encourage continual improvement of standards in occupational health, safety and sustainability. Able to clearly communicate and influence at a senior level to motivate HSS compliance and improvements. Establish strong relationships with key internal stakeholders (Senior Divisional Leaders, Digital Communications Team, THRIVE Champions and Sustainability Coordinators) to drive improvements across HSS performance in accordance with our Sustainability Strategy. Engage with external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, insurers, and government agencies and customers, to maintain the company's reputation for excellence in HSS management. Manage relationships and HSS performance of external service providers such as travel booking system and driving fleet providers. With the Digital Communications team, create internal communication initiatives to ensure effective dissemination of HSS standards to remote workers, and to promote HSS awareness and engagement across the Group. Safety Outside Manufacturing Develop and maintain HSE standards for non-manufacturing settings, including offices, remote/sales teams, and laboratories. Address safety considerations for employees working in public areas or customer premises. Ensure compliance with travel health and safety requirements for employees. Promote and manage driving safety programs across the Group. Compliance and Standard Development As the subject matter expert, develop, maintain, and implement standards for; Employee welfare Occupational health and hygiene programmes. Ergonomic safety (Including DSE) First aid Psychosocial risk management Driving risk management Travel risk management Events and volunteering risk management Conduct gap assessments to evaluate compliance with Group standards, identifying areas for improvement and managing the implementation of corrective actions. Track and monitor progress against HSS-related action plans to ensure timely completion of compliance and improvement initiatives. Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to drive the continuous improvement of Group HSS standards and processes. Performance Monitoring and Improvement Conduct audits of HSS management systems across all relevant settings, including non-manufacturing environments, focusing on compliance and continuous improvement. Monitor compliance with occupational health, safety and sustainability programmes. Identify and escalate compliance issues that pose risks to the business while driving initiatives to mitigate these risks. Support incident investigations for high-potential or significant HSS incidents globally. Risk Management and Strategic Support Lead or contribute to the evaluation of new acquisitions as part of the business risk management process. Work closely with internal and external risk managers, to protect people, property and the environment. Develop, maintain, and communicate Group-wide HSS policies and standards effectively. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication in English. Confident presenter able to provide in person delivery of critical HSS messages at conferences and online through live and recorded visual media. Degree or Post Graduate Qualification in a relevant subject to include Health, Safety and/or Sustainability e.g. occupational safety, environmental health, biomedical sciences, occupational hygiene, health and environment. Additional Information: Occasional global travel may be required with this role. This role is based in UK or Europe / remote.
