Role: Sales Estimator
Location: Cardiff
Salary: £35,000
Shift: Monday – Friday (40 hours) 7.30am – 4pm
My client, a respected specialist manufacturer of industrial and commercial door solutions, is seeking an experienced Sales Estimator to lead and enhance its sales performance and office operations.
The company is offering supply, installation, maintenance, and repair services across a wide range of sectors. Known for delivering high-quality, compliant, and reliable door systems, the business supports clients with tailored solutions including roller shutters, steel hinged doors, fire curtains, sectional doors, high-speed doors, fire/security rated doors, and ongoing service contracts. With a strong pipeline of enquiries and continued growth.
This is a permanent, office-based role
As the Sales Estimator you will be responsible for
Assist in reviewing project drawings, specifications, and other documents to understand project scope
Help gather and organise pricing information for materials, labour, and plant
Support the preparation of detailed cost estimates
Assist in maintaining relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain accurate pricing
Help maintain accurate records of estimates, proposals, and project documentation
Participate in team meetings and collaborate with other departments as needed
Learn and apply estimating best practices and company procedures
Perform basic calculations and quantity take-offs under supervision
Assist in the use of estimating software and databases
Shadow experienced estimators during site visits and pre-bid meetings
The successful Sales Estimator will have the following experience
Basic understanding of the construction industry, including the processes, materials and methods.
Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Specifically Excel and Word)
Good communication skills.
Detail oriented.
Ability to work independently and as a team.
Familiarity with or willingness to learn estimating software (e.g. Merlin)
