Hillbourne Primary School is a primary school located in the Broadstone area of Poole, Dorset. It is part of the Hamwic Education Trust and offers a partnership of 37 schools across the South Coast.
Contract and Salary
30 hours per week, term time only (39 weeks per year). 08:30am to 3:00pm with a 30‑minute lunch break.
Salary: Grade F12‑17 – £19,855 to £21,538 per annum (actual). Full‑time equivalent salary: £28,598 to £31,022 per annum.
Role Summary
As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) with a focus on SEN, you will play a key part in shaping exceptional support for pupils with special educational needs. Working closely with the SENCo, you will help drive the strategic development and delivery of our SEN provision, ensuring every child receives the personalised support they need to thrive. You will also coordinate day‑to‑day interventions and collaborate with staff—including the designated safeguarding lead—to create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment where all learners can succeed.
Responsibilities
* Shape and deliver SEN provision in partnership with the SENCo.
* Coordinate and implement tailored interventions for pupils with SEN or disabilities.
* Collaborate with teachers, safeguarding lead, and other staff to support inclusive learning.
* Advocate for pupils' inclusion and access to the curriculum.
* Provide administrative support, building and maintaining good relationships.
* Support safe, inclusive and nurturing classroom environments.
* Participate in staff training and professional development.
Qualifications
* Understanding of Special Educational Needs (SEN) policies and practices.
* Experience supporting pupils' educational and emotional needs.
* Strong advocacy skills for inclusion and curriculum access.
* Excellent organisational and administrative ability, and a natural multi‑tasker.
* Excellent written, communication and interpersonal skills.
