Joining Hampshire’s Schools Transport Service as a Passenger Assistant Project Officer, your vital role will support the safe and reliable transport of over 14,800 children and young people across Hampshire, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN). You’ll play a key part in ensuring our dedicated team of over 650 Passenger Assistants are effectively recruited, trained, supported and equipped to deliver an outstanding service every day.
What you’ll do:
1. Provide operational HR support to Passenger Assistant Coordinators, ensuring policies, safer working practices and HR processes are consistently followed.
2. Oversee recruitment, retention and day to day management of Passenger Assistants, to meet statutory service requirements.
3. Lead on disciplinary, capability and conduct cases, supporting evidence gathering and decision-making.
4. Develop and deliver training programmes including induction and customer service, and ensure all materials and presentations align with Hampshire County Council standards and best practice.
5. Maintain accurate HR, safeguarding and personnel records, ensuring compliance and high quality data management.
6. Deliver excellent customer care, responding to enquiries from schools, families, Passenger Assistants and Transport Providers.
7. Prepare operational reports and planning data while supporting the ongoing implementation of policy, procedures and Safer Working Practices.
What we’re looking for:
8. Experienced in managing HR administration and following HR processes.
9. Working knowledge of safeguarding principles and safer working practices.
10. Experience in operational management within a front line service.
11. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
12. Experienced delivering training sessions, workshops or briefings.
13. Confident using IT systems and digital tools to support operational efficiency.
14. High attention to detail and the ability to work independently.

Travel Requirements:
You will be required to travel to various locations within Hampshire, and it is essential that you have a current drivers’ licence and access to a reliable vehicle on a regular basis.
