1. Do you have a caring and supportive nature?
2. Do you have empathy and an understanding for the challenges parents/carer face during the 0-5 years old journey?
3. Do you have professional or personal understanding of neurodivergent conditions?
4. Do you want to work for a large long standing charity which values working with children, young people, parents and carers and professionals?
5. Are you confident to deliver sessions to a group of parents/carers?
We have a new opening for our Surrey Paediatrics Parenting Support Service. This service was created from the Mental Health Investment Fund from Surrey County Council and we are delighted to be able to offer this service of support for parents/carers in Surrey.
Our groups and webinars are open to parents/carers in Surrey who have a young person ages 0-5 years old. The parents/carers will benefit from attending our support if they would like some upskilling whilst juggling the demands of parenthood during the vast developmental changes we see during 0-5 years old. This is particularly beneficial for parents/carers who feel their young person might be showing behaviour traits of neurodivergent conditions such as autism and/or ADHD.
We offer sessions online during the day and some evening sessions. We offer face to face sessions at sites across Surrey, in schools or nurseries and some in our Barnardo's owned family centres. We collect outcome scores from our attendees and we are delighted that we are seeing a significant impact for our attendees and receiving positive feedback from our parents/carers. Some of our sessions allow young people to attend the sessions which allows our practitioners to interact with our parents/carers as well as young people as required.
We are delighted to have support from our brilliant volunteers in this service.
The role open is based out of our Surrey Wellbeing Hub, Leatherhead. This location is your base for in person working with the team, printing, storage of some materials and mileage claims from this base. You will be able to work from home throughout the week. Travel to office and face to face sessions as required to meet the need of the service. Often in the office one a week.
This role is to be worked Monday - Wednesday with some evening work. Currently our evening sessions run 6-8:30pm and are run online and therefore can be worked from home.
Practitioner provided with laptop, phone and lockable work rucksack plus other equipment as required.
Please note due to the high volume of applications for some posts, this advert might close before the displayed closing date. We recommend that you apply for this role as soon as possible.
Pay & Reward Framework
We know that our colleagues go above and beyond in delivering our vital work, driven by their passion and commitment to Barnardo's . We also know that we can only realise our ambitions and achieve better outcomes for more children, thanks to the talent, hard work and creativity of our people.
For all these reasons, we are committed to a new approach to pay and reward, to ensure it is fair, attractive and progressive, which was rolled out in April 2023. This is a positive change for the charity, and a part of our Strategy. It will assist us in supporting colleagues to belong, thrive and grow in their colleague journey at Barnardo's and in time will offer clear routes of progression for colleagues in both their career and their pay.
Whilst the full pay band and salary range is advertised, our approach to starting salaries is to appoint between the minimum to mid-point of the pay band – this ensures that pay steps are available to reward our colleagues annually based on their contribution to excellence and alignment to our values and behaviours. More details on Barnardo's pay framework can be found upon application.
