We are seeking a compassionate and creative Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a specialist school that supports children with high-support autism and profound multiple learning difficulties. This role is perfect for an art or creative graduate looking to gain hands-on experience in a therapeutic education environment.

About the Role

Salary: £101 to £110 per day

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a key role in the daily care and development of children with profound needs. This includes sensory support, personal care, and toilet care. You will gain experience comparable to that of trainee Art Therapists and Speech and Language Therapists, learning to use creative and therapeutic approaches to engage pupils.

You will also help create a nurturing, emotionally safe environment by integrating art, music, play, and sensory activities into daily routines.

Working With Children With Global Development Delay (GDD)

In this role, you will:

1. Work closely with children with GDD, Autism and complex needs.
2. Learn how to support each child’s communication style, sensory preferences, and emotional regulation.
3. Help foster independence, confidence, and meaningful engagement in learning.

Your creativity, patience, and compassion will play a vital part in enhancing their quality of life and development.

What We’re Looking For

4. A caring, patient, empathetic individual passionate about supporting children.
5. Art or creative graduates who understand how creativity can support emotional and sensory development.
6. Someone open to personal care responsibilities and working within a highly supportive SEN environment.
7. A proactive mindset and willingness to learn from therapists and SEN specialists.
8. An understanding (or interest in learning) of the therapeutic benefits of art, music, and sensory play.

Benefits of Joining Milk Education

9. Excellent daily pay rates.
10. Full access to free, ongoing CPD, including trauma-informed practice, Autism awareness, and behaviour support.
11. Wellbeing support and reflective check-ins with your dedicated consultant.
12. 45–60 minutes of paid preparation/reflection time each day to support planning and personal development.
13. Partnership with Make Life Kind, delivering kindness and emotional resilience initiatives in schools.
14. Partnership with Unbottled, supporting emotional literacy and mental health education for young people.
15. Opportunities to progress into permanent SEN or therapy-based roles after placement.
16. Milk Education values inclusion, diversity, and long-term positive change within schools.
