Role
We are seeking a skilled and practical Mechanical and Electrical Technician to support the operation of our advanced test laboratory.
Start Date: Sept/October 2025
Salary Range: £28,000+ per annum (commensurate with experience)
Reporting To: Laboratory Manager
Note: Applicants must have appropriate permits and visas to work in the UK.

Responsibilities
Training will be provided. You will play a vital hands-on role in supporting a range of mechanical, electrical, and environmental testing activities, ensuring our test systems are accurate, safe, and efficient. Your key responsibilities will include:
* Assemble, wire, and operate complex mechanical and electrical test rigs for thermal, vibration, and shock testing.
* Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and calibrations on specialist test equipment, ensuring performance and reliability.
* Data Acquisition Support: Install, configure, and troubleshoot instrumentation and sensors to gather accurate test data.
* Documentation: Accurately document test setups, procedures, and outcomes in line with quality standards.
* Health and Safety Compliance: Maintain a safe and controlled working environment through adherence to all safety procedures.
* Work closely with engineers, technicians, and project managers to deliver successful test campaigns.
* Process Improvement: Contribute ideas and feedback to support continuous improvement of laboratory operations.
Qualifications and Experience
* NVQ Level 3 / HNC / HND in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
* Previous experience in a test laboratory, R&D, or industrial engineering environment, preferable.
* Strong mechanical assembly and/or electrical wiring skills.
* Familiarity with environmental testing methods (vibration, thermal, shock), preferable.
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and wiring schematics, preferable.
* Desirable: Forklift licence, full UK driving licence, PLC knowledge.
