We are currently recruiting for to join our friendly team at our Linford Block Plant, which is located close to Stanford-le-Hope in Essex. The site is easily accessible from Tilbury, Gravesend, Rochester, Gillingham, Dartford, Purfleet on Thames, Grays, Wickford, Southend-on-Sea, Basildon, Brentwood, Billericay and the surrounding areas.
Our Linford Plant manufactures sustainable, tough and energy efficient aerated blocks that we see all around us, whether this be in our homes or our work environments, you are never too far away from one of our products.
Working as part of the site production team focusing on delivering and leading exceptional, SHE standards and meeting financial and operational targets, the Shift Supervisor is responsible for the safe operation of the plant ensuring daily tasks are completed including general site housekeeping and basic maintenance and the safe and efficient operation of mobile and fixed plant. The Shift Supervisor acts as a leader within the shift, coordinating required labour, training and development of the shift team. You will need to show a high degree of flexibility within your work as well as building good working relationships with your team.

Main Responsibilities
1. Labour utilisation within budgeted controls
2. Training and development of team
3. Supervise team and manage contractors and haulier engagement
4. Ensure safe load optimisation
5. Prioritising planned works
6. Ensuring that Health & Safety rules are adhered to and deliver safety/operational performance targets supporting a culture of health and safety best practice by setting a personal example
7. Comply with all Tarmac/CRH Policies & Procedures
8. Supporting continuous improvement of Health, Safety and Environmental performance standards
9. Supporting continuous improvement of process, plant and production
10. Effective completion of operator preventative maintenance tasks
11. Balancing the time covering operation and house keeping
12. Ensuring mobile plant cleanliness standards
13. Ensuring daily compliance checks and standards
14. Building working relationships with other production and maintenance personnel
15. Good time keeping and flexibility
16. Ensure products of high quality are efficiently produced
17. Ensure that Site Inspections are completed and recorded
18. Ensure you read, understand and sign method statements and risk assessments for all activities.
19. Attend and actively participate in Daily Briefings and Weekly Safety Briefings
20. Actively look to identify SHE improvement opportunities
21. Comply with planning and other operating restrictions i.e. site boundaries, noise, dust, hours etc
22. Ensure Daily KPIs are recorded accurately and work with the team to meet agreed KPI’s
23. Identify and communicate opportunities for continuous improvement In addition to reviewing implementing any appropriate best practice
24. Effectively control daily operations of the plant in line with the operating SOP’s
25. Work closely with maintenance team/contractors to co-ordinate maintenance activities during a normal day and during shutdowns
The Ideal Candidate
26. Manufacturing process experience
27. Heavy plant and equipment experience
28. PC literate including Microsoft excel, word and power point
29. Familiar with ISO, ,, standards
30. Good oral and written English
