About Us
Welcome to Easthorpe School, an independent specialist provision dedicated to supporting children and young people in the East Midlands. We cater to those living with their families, foster carers, or in residential children's homes.
Since opening our doors in November 2022, we are excited to expand our team to accommodate the growing number of pupils in our Lower School (ages 7-13). With class sizes capped at six, each classroom is supported by a qualified teacher and up to two teaching assistants.
Our mission is to support pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs (SEMH) and various diagnoses, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, and more. This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced teaching assistants to shape the future of our new provision and make a meaningful impact on our pupils' lives.
Your Role
As a One-to-One Teaching Assistant, you will:
* Mentor and support one pupil or a small group of no more than six.
* Assist the Classroom Teacher during lessons.
* Report on pupils' progress and collaborate with staff to meet their needs.
* Supervise pupils during non-classroom activities, including extracurriculars and school trips.
* Help with lesson planning and classroom preparation.
* Set and mark work as appropriate.
* Build positive relationships with pupils to foster engagement and learning.
What We’re Looking For
To thrive in this role, you should:
* Have a strong educational background, ideally to A-level, with at least GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics.
* Bring previous experience as a Teaching Assistant.
* Have experience working with pupils with SEMH in an educational setting.
* Be confident in taking on additional responsibilities in areas like Food Hygiene, Forest School, or School Yoga.
* Possess skills in behavior management and techniques.
* Be committed to professional development and eager to learn.
* Be willing to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check prior to starting work.
