Duty Manager – Transport & Operations
Broxburn (Edinburgh) | gategroup | 2 Positions Available
Shift Pattern: 3 on, 3 off | 4am–4pm
Make flights happen. On time, every time.
We're gategroup—the world's largest airline caterer. Our Broxburn facility near Edinburgh Airport is pure logistics—no hot kitchens, just precision transport operations that get meals from Glasgow to aircraft across Scotland. We need two Duty Managers to orchestrate it all.
What You'll Actually Do
You're the shift commander. Your job is making sure every function of the day runs without a hitch:
* Manage transport operations – coordinate vehicle movements, check fleet standards, oversee loading schedules
* Ensure compliance – conduct temp checks, complete vehicle administration, maintain security protocols
* Run search & seal – verify loads, secure shipments, handle queries
* Act as Site Security Representative (SSR) for the unit
* Problem-solve in real time – delays, queries, operational issues—you sort it
* Keep standards high – driving regulations, vehicle maintenance, operational safety
This isn't a desk job. You'll be hands-on across the facility, working closely with drivers, loaders, and the Glasgow team to ensure seamless delivery every single day.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
* Transport or logistics background (aviation experience is a bonus, not essential)
* Excellent communicator
* Security mindset—aviation security or compliance experience particularly valuable
* Cool head under pressure when things don't go to plan
* Willingness to work early starts (4am) on a rotating 3-on, 3-off pattern
* Previous management or coordination experience.
Ideal:
* Aviation or airside operations knowledge
* Security accreditation or background (aviation security, compliance, risk management)
No line management responsibility—you're focused on operational delivery, not people management. But you do need the confidence to lead a shift and make quick decisions.
Why Join gategroup?
* Work-life balance that works: 3 on, 3 off means proper time off
* Career progression that's real: people move across sites, into management, even internationally
* Global brand, local impact: you're part of the world's largest airline caterer
* Job security: aviation isn't going anywhere, neither are we
All applicants must have the right to work in the UK and pass background checks (DBS and 5 years of checkable references)
