Responsibilities
* Assist the Manager in achieving the aims and objectives of the Statement of Purpose.
* Deputise in the absence of the registered manager.
* Support and manage staff to enable them to meet the needs of children and young people.
* Undertake direct work with children and young people as appropriate.
* Act as the responsible person managing child protection concerns and complaints.
* Work in partnership with other professionals to achieve optimum outcomes for young people.
* Offer supervisions and support to senior staff in line with care quality standards and Children’s Homes Regulations 2015.
* Ensure each young person has an allocated key worker.
* Ensure each staff member understands each child’s placement plan and their responsibilities for implementation.
* Attend childcare reviews and planning meetings to provide information and achieve best outcomes.
* Act as a role model when engaging directly with young people.
* Assist in developing systems that consult young people about the quality of care they receive.
* Assist the Registered Manager in implementing all aspects of the Statement of Purpose.
* Contribute to devising, implementing and evaluating changes with front‑line staff to continually improve services, systems and standards, in conjunction with the Registered Manager and the Senior Management team.
* Support the rota to ensure adequate staffing according to the needs of young people.
* Ensure resources are allocated appropriately and financial records are accurately maintained.
* Document, monitor and update children and young people’s records daily using an electronic care recording system; experience with Clearcare is an advantage but not essential.
Qualifications
* NVQ level 3 in caring for Children and Young People (or equivalent).
* Understanding of the Ofsted framework (SCCIF).
* Minimum 12 months experience working in a residential setting with young people who have challenging behaviour, including supervisory experience.
* Knowledge of the Children Act and other relevant legislation.
* Team building skills.
* Supervision skills.
* Ability to manage teams effectively.
* Excellent organisational skills.
* Ability to motivate and enthuse staff.
* A full UK driving licence is required.
