We’re looking for a Senior Net Zero Engineer to be at the forefront of this mission- championing energy and carbon efficiency across our sites.

In this pivotal role, you’ll work closely with County Engineering Managers and operational teams to identify, shape and support the delivery of efficiency opportunities in energy, chemicals and energy usage.

As a trusted expert and internal ambassador for sustainable performance, you’ll help deliver measurable reductions in energy use and carbon emissions-while playing a key part in our journey to become a low carbon business.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities Develop and enhance energy, carbon and water efficiency standards across operational sites.

Lead site workshops, briefings and performance assessments to drive behavioural and operational change.

Identify and manage efficiency opportunities, quantifying benefits and supporting low/no-cost improvements, Analyse performance data and identify areas of wastage, working with teams to drive improvement.

Support sub-metering strategies and train staff on using energy tools and systems Develop business cases and secure funding for invest-to-save projects, overseeing implementation and benefits realisation.

Trial, document and roll out successful interventions across multiple sites.

Embed best practice in collaboration with operational, maintenance and engineering teams.

Subject Matter Expert (SME) for operational Energy & Carbon reduction within Water/Wastewater/Bioresource processes Enable compliance with energy & carbon related regulations (e.g.

ESOS, Industrial Emissions Directive) Mentoring and technical development lead for energy & carbon services Technical Skills & Experience Chartered professional engineer, or can present a tangible plan to obtain chartership within the first 12 to 24months of tenure (e.g.

engineering degree qualified or suitable experience to gain chartership status) Experienced in energy & carbon auditing best practices (e.g.

ESOS compliance) Ability to influence and communicate across all levels of the organisation Comprehensive understanding of the operation and optimisation of key energy consuming assets within the water industry (e.g.

Activated sludge process, pumping systems, heat and steam systems) Experienced in root cause analysis Strong data analysis skills, including the ability to construct detailed energy balance assessments.

Good presentation skills and comfortable leading workshops and disseminating results across all levels Experienced in development of business cases for funding Overseeing implementation of capital works, e.g.

invest to save projects Working in multi-disciplined teams, e.g.

operational engineering teams.
