Job overview
The Governors are looking to appoint a hard-working, inspiring and talented History teacher, with the ability to teach A-Level, to join our existing team and help take St Oscar Romero Catholic School and Sixth Form into the next chapter of its exciting journey.
In April 2025 we were judged by Ofsted as 'Outstanding' in all categories. The report was overwhelmingly positive about the school and stated "This is a highly aspirational school where pupils truly thrive".
Our last Diocesan Section 48 Inspection took place in July 2019, which judged the school as "Outstanding" in every category. Both Outstanding judgements were a first for the school and a proud moment in the school's 60-year history.
This is an exciting time for the school and our success is already breeding further success and aspiration. Last year, 80% of students achieved at least a Grade 4 in both English and Maths. The Attainment 8 score for the school was 55.1. Our challenge is to improve even further on that.
The History department is a creative and energetic team, who are always looking for new ways to deliver the curriculum that excite, stretch and provoke curiosity in our students. We are seeking to recruit a new member of the History team who will bring spark, energy and empathy to the department, as our school continues on its quest to be the best in the country. There will also be the opportunity to teach A Level for the right candidate.
