The Children and Families Department takes a strengths-based approach to working with each other, children, young people and families, and our partner agencies. We call this 'Our Nottinghamshire Approach'.
The Leaving Care service works with care leavers from the age of 16 and we are looking to recruit a Personal Advisor (Grade 5) in our North team based at Ollerton. The North team covers areas including Worksop, Retford, Ollerton and Newark, although you may work with young people across the county if they move or occasionally if living away from the area.
You will need to have excellent communication skills and the ability to form positive, sustainable relationships with a diverse group of young people.
You will have your own caseload of young people aged 16 to 21 and will be expected to support care leavers into adulthood, providing a range of practical and financial support. This will involve advocacy, negotiation and working with other agencies and colleagues to ensure young people’s needs are met.
You will be passionate and committed to supporting young people to reach their full potential, developing an effective working relationship to motivate and support care leavers to engage in education, training and employment, and to build the necessary emotional resilience and skills for independence.
You need to be able to work independently (with ongoing support and supervision) and be part of a very supportive team.
