Information Management & Data Protection Internship
This internship is a valuable opportunity for someone looking to gain hands-on experience in information management, data protection, and information compliance. You are based in the Archives & Records team and will learn how the organisation creates and stores records.
This role us part of our Pathways Programme here at Waddesdon which aims to create a sustainable legacy for the future of heritage by providing opportunities to cultivate passion and skills across our inspiring organisation.
The role is designed for individuals with an interest in how organisations handle information responsibly and meet legal requirements. The successful candidate will support the team in maintaining good data practices and ensuring the organisation stays compliant with relevant regulations.
What will you be doing?
Over the course of the internship, you will be introduced to a wide range of tasks that underpin how Waddesdon manages information securely and responsibly.
You will learn how the organisation creates and stores records, and which systems are used to manage information. Alongside this, you will develop an understanding of data legislation, such as UK GDPR, and the key administrative requirements for compliance with this. With guidance from the team, you will help review our existing policies, procedures and registers, looking for gaps and preparing to build a fuller picture of the organisation’s data practices and help us to make improvements.
Throughout the year, you will support day-to-day recordkeeping practices. This includes helping with record management processes throughout the records lifecycle, such as transfer, listing, packaging and disposal. You will also help manage the care and storage of digital records to ensure their long-term preservation using appropriate tools and systems.
You will be a great fit if...
Your revision notes were colour coded and tagged, and you like to help people find information and share what you know.
We are looking for someone with a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and a keen interest in how organisations manage information and stay legally compliant. You should have good attention to detail, be organised, and able to communicate clearly. Basic IT skills, such as using Microsoft Word, Excel, and email, are helpful, but training will be provided.
