Head of Finance - up to £65,000p/a - £70,000p/a (hybrid offered)
Our client is a not for profit organisation with the nationwide network, who are looking for a dynamic and data driven Head of Finance who combines strong charity finance experience with a commercial mindset, capable of helping us grow while maintaining full regulatory compliance and financial resilience.
As Head of Finance, you will lead our finance function of around 7 staff, ensuring strategic oversight, financial integrity, and informed decision-making across the organization. You will work closely with the CFO and stake holders to ensure that resources are managed efficiently and that we remain financially sustainable in a competitive funding environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and implement a robust financial strategy aligned with organizational goals.
* Provide commercial insight and challenge to strategic decisions, funding models, and business planning.
* Support the CEO and Board in understanding financial implications of growth, partnerships, and new opportunities.
* Lead the annual budget, forecasting, and management accounts processes.
* Ensure compliance with the Charity SORP and other relevant regulatory frameworks (e.g., Charity Commission, Companies House).
* Prepare timely and accurate financial reports for management, board, and funders.
* Lead on cash flow forecasting, reserves management, and investment decisions.
* Ensure strong internal financial controls, policies, and procedures are in place and maintained.
* Manage the preparation of statutory accounts and coordination with external auditors.
* Oversee risk management, insurance, and compliance frameworks.
* Lead and develop the finance team to deliver high performance and support across the organization.
* Provide financial support and training to non-financial staff and budget holders.
* Build strong relationships with external stakeholders including funders, banks, and auditors.
Person SpecificationEssential
* Ideally ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified, but will consider Finalists and QBE, based on experience
* Proven experience in senior financial leadership roles within the not-for-profit, charity, or public sector.
* Deep understanding of charity accounting regulations, including the Charity SORP.
* Strong commercial mindset - able to analyse opportunities, manage risk, and support income generation strategies.
* Experience developing and leading budgeting, forecasting, and business planning processes.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage and influence at all levels.
