Job overview

Are you an Endoscopy nurse who is looking for a new challenge, who demonstrate effective and sustainable leadership and management skills?

Can you help us to deliver and develop a diverse range of endoscopic therapeutic interventions? If you are enjoying sharing your endoscopic knowledge by teaching and developing others, experienced, passionate, dynamic and forward thinking individual, we would like to hear from you.

Key areas of responsibility will be agreed with successful candidate when they start, such as responsible for supporting and developing the nursing team and the multidisciplinary teams in endoscopy.

You will have the opportunity to lead by example and support the safe delivery of individualized care for patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures including endoscopic ablation of Barrett's esophagus using radiofrequency ablation (HALO) and Endo Bronchial Ultrasound (EBUS).

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

* To lead in the procedure room on Endoscopy therapeutic intervention and act as a clinical expert within ones sphere of work.
* Carry out planned care for a group of patients without direct supervision.
* Ensure the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidence based, individualised patient care.
* Assist and advice staff, both registered and unregistered in the delivery of patient care.
* Ensure all staff maintain accurate clinical observations of the patient and act accordingly.
* Plan, organise and deploy staff according to ability and workload in order to meet patient needs .
* Have responsibility for the correct administration and custody of medicines according to Trust policy.
* Ensure registered nurses manage patients in a safe and timely manner, through the Endoscopy pathway, identifying patient needs and taking action as required.
* Ensure that nursing practices comply with Trust policies and procedures.
* Assess the needs of patients, relatives and carers and provide them with information as requested.
* To keep up to date with current developments in nursing and ensure evidence based practice.

Person specification

Education/ Qualifications

Essential criteria

* Active NMC pin as a 1st level Registered Nurse
* Mentorship, teaching Qualification or relevant experience
* Relevant Specialist endoscopy course

Desirable criteria

* Recovery course
* Endoscopy Principles and Procedure course

Experience

Essential criteria

* Extensive experience within the speciality or relevant experience

Desirable criteria

* Can undertake personal development review
* Minimum of 2 years recent experience in endoscopy

Skills/Knowledge/ Abilities

Essential criteria

* Full range of Endoscopy Therapeutic competencies. Organisation and management skills.
* Mentorship in practice or equivalent.
* Ability to lead a team.
* Articulate with advanced written and oral communication skills.
* Ability to work effectively under pressure.
* Ability to problem solves
* Ability to perform clinical activities specific to speciality.

Desirable criteria

* Competent in recovering patient who had procedures done under General Anaesthesia
* Competent and experience in ESD and EBUS/HALO procedures
