Prospero Teaching is proud to be recruiting caring and committed SEN Support Assistants for a specialist primary school in Waterlooville. Starting this November, this is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a nurturing, child-centred environment.
This welcoming school supports children with autism, speech and language needs, and broader communication challenges. As a Support Assistant, you'll work closely with pupils-either one-on-one or in small groups-using tools like Makaton, PECS, and visual resources to build confidence and support learning.
Your Role Will Include:
Supporting children's development through personalised learning activities
Encouraging independence, social skills, and self-esteem in a nurturing setting
Helping create calm, structured routines to support emotional well-being
Collaborating with teachers to deliver engaging, inclusive lessons
Monitoring progress and contributing to pupil assessments
Providing additional support to ensure every child feels safe, valued, and understood
Assisting with personal care routines respectfully and sensitively
Promoting safeguarding and confidentiality at all times
What We're Looking For:
Experience supporting SEN pupils in a school setting (primary preferred)
A genuine passion for child welfare and proactive safeguarding
Patience, positivity, and a warm, approachable attitude
Familiarity with communication tools such as Makaton or PECS
Strong teamwork and communication skills
Solid literacy, numeracy, and IT abilities

Pay: From £13.96 per hour
