Our client, a leader in the Defence & Security sector, is seeking a highly skilled Human Factors Engineer for a contract role. This position plays a critical role in ensuring user capability is fully considered in the development of advanced weapon systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct Human Factors Integration throughout the development lifecycle, providing progressive assurance to the customer as per Def Stan 00-251.
Analyse and assess the role of the operator within the weapon system, considering mission planning and control.
Define and maintain Human-Computer Interface (HCI) Design and Specification artefacts.
Conduct user engagement activities to inform design as part of a Human-Centred Design approach.
Support and collaborate with wider systems teams, including provision of briefings where required.
Coordinate with teams to provide inputs for demonstrator requirements and organise user engagement events.
Job Requirements:
Membership in the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors (CIEHF).
Experience applying Human Factors in a Defence context, including understanding of Defence Standards (e.g., 00-251).
Experience in Human-Computer Interface Design, specification, and prototyping using tools such as AxureRP.
Proficient in core HF activities including task analysis, requirements development, and user engagement within a Human-Centred Design approach.
Experience working in multi-disciplinary engineering teams, particularly with systems and software engineering.
Understanding of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and SysML notation.
Familiarity with the Naval domain and knowledge of mission planning and control systems is desirable.
