An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Wessex Cancer Alliance (WCA), hosted by University Hospital Southampton NHS FT (UHS) for a Project Officer to work on a variety of work programmes across the Alliance.
The cancer alliance works across Wessex to improve services for our patients whilst supporting providers in delivering improvements in cancer services. With the launch of the 10‑year cancer plan in February 2026, the alliance and key stakeholders will be overseeing a variety of workstreams for the next three years focused on improving cancer performance and the experience of patients going through cancer treatment. This role supports programme managers with analytical reviews, capacity and demand modelling, and review of key cancer pathways to improve performance.
What you’ll do
* Plan service improvement and re‑design
* Encourage change effectively with senior colleagues in a clinical setting
* Professionally support project implementation and delivery
* Use improvement methodologies and data to understand and improve processes
* Be interested in learning improvement skills through formal and informal training
What we’re looking for
The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills to engage with all levels of clinical and managerial staff. Experience of either project management or service improvement would be an advantage; this is a development role and the post holder will be expected to expand their knowledge of these skills while in post. The role will provide exposure and opportunities to engage with other Trusts and share learning.
