This role is based in our Head Office in Featherstone, Wolverhampton (3 days a week minimum)
Job Purpose
As Trading Manager you will play a pivotal role in shaping our forward sales and procurement strategy. This role is as a senior position within Blakemore Meats and forms an integral part of the senior commercial leadership that will be moving the business forwards and driving profitable sales.
There is a need for a strong knowledge of all the key protein species and particularly a strong understanding of the supply base and buying these proteins. In addition, the successful candidate will have a proven track record of selling to a wide range of different customer channels and growing sales and margin within an established customer base as well as developing new customers from leads generated by the wider team. For the right individual there will be future opportunities for line management within the Commercial Team.
Key Accountabilities
Be an integral part of the senior Commercial Team shaping and implementing the forward buying and sales strategy.
Play a key role in managing supplier relationships and the planning of purchases on key species.
Source high-quality meat from UK and international suppliers, ensuring competitive pricing, timely delivery and alignment with BRC standards.
Leverage your existing network of customer and supplier relationships within the meat industry.
Developing existing and new customer leads generated by the wider team.
The effective control of waste throughout the supply chain, leading the management of short-dated stocks.
Ensuring all administration processes are adhered to and carried out with a high level of accuracy.
Support and promote food safety, quality, legality, and authenticity within the role.

Key Knowledge, Skills, Experience And Qualifications Required
Proven track record in meat trading, procurement and sales, with exposure to all key proteins
Established connections with suppliers, producers, and customers.
Ability to analyse market data and make informed decisions.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Programs
Self-starter, quick to take the initiative and spot new opportunities
Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships, influence, negotiate and persuade
Strong organisational and planning skills
Ability to use logical and creative thinking to solve problems and make decisions
Entrepreneurial and innovative with a delivery focus
Commercially focused, capable of delivering results in a cost-effective manner
Strong negotiation skills are an essential
