At Mount Pleasant, young people are encouraged to build friendships, try new things, and feel part of the local community. Based in Dalry, our home offers the support and stability young people need to grow in confidence and develop their independence. Where local opportunities are limited, we make sure there are other ways to learn, gain life skills, and stay on track, always working with each young person at their own pace.
As a Relief Support Practitioner with CrossReach, you will support children and young people who have experienced challenging circumstances, helping them feel safe, supported and included. You will work within small, homely houses and a supportive team environment where relationships, consistency and care really matter.
The role
You will provide day-to-day support to children and young people, helping with routines, relationships and wellbeing. This includes supporting care and education plans, encouraging participation in activities at home and in the community, and contributing to a calm, therapeutic environment. Relief work offers flexibility, with shifts available across a rota including evenings, weekends and sleepovers.
What you will need
You will have experience in a care, education or support setting and bring a calm, thoughtful approach to your work. You will hold an HNC in Social Care and SVQ Level 3, or be working towards these, and have a full manual driving licence. You will be willing to register with the SSSC, join the PVG Scheme and work within CrossReach’s Christian ethos.
Why work with CrossReach
You will be part of a values-led organisation that supports your development, values your contribution and gives you the opportunity to make a real difference to children and young people’s lives.

CrossReach has been at the forefront of high quality social care for over 150 years, providing loving care to people of all ages and supporting them to live life to the full whatever their circumstances. During that time, we have worked hard to understand the needs of the people who turn to us for help and with them have been at the forefront of pioneering services which have literally changed thousands of lives for the better.
Today we are one of the largest social care providers in Scotland, with experience across a broad range of services. We are still growing, learning, and improving, thanks to the incredible people we have the privilege to support, and all those who support us. We are part of the Church of Scotland and aim to provide social care services and specialist resources in Christ’s name to further the caring work of the Church to people in challenging circumstances.
As we do our work in Christ’s name you must be respectful of our Christian Ethos and be able to work within it.
This post requires you to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme and undertake the necessary vetting checks. You will also be required to be registered with SSSC and it is your professional responsibility to ensure that you meet the standards and criteria for registration.
