Position: Warehouse Supervisor 4 on 4 off – Nights Location: Heathrow Hours: 4 on 4 off – Nights shift patter, 40.36 hours per week About the position: To ensure the smooth operation of the warehouse function during the shift, reporting all activities including anomalies and discrepancies as and when required to the appropriate authorities. Key Tasks and Responsibilities will include: Supervision and control of the warehouse operation and operatives which includes air, ocean, road, perishable & Healthcare. Be responsible to maintain performance and operational standards. Responsible for the correct loading, unloading and dispatching goods in line with the SOPs. Complete any necessary paperwork relating to any inbound / outbound activity. Ensure that all vehicles arriving are suitably presented with any anomalies reported immediately Ensure that all goods received are signed for with a copy of the signed deliver note returned to the driver and a copy for the A&O office (as applicable) Ensure drivers have the relevant paperwork prior to departure Ensure quality procedures and team quality targets are strictly adhered to. Overall responsibility for all aspects of effective supervision, training & development and health & safety, security & welfare of your team. Communicate job expectations and coach staff. Conduct daily team briefings to include the communication of company information as and when required. Be responsible to maintain highest levels of cleanliness, safety and security. Confer and coordinate activities with other departments. To be responsible for communication any issues and concerns along with recommendations to the Site Operations Manager To ensure accurate information is handed over to the next shift supervisor. To be responsible with the Site Operations Manager for resource planning with the team in line with the needs of the business. Determine staffing levels and assign workload. Supervise absence, sickness and holidays. Supervise and control hazardous substances in the area in accordance with EU/UK legislation. Implement the company’s Health and Safety policy, Security policy ensuring safe working conditions and practices within the warehouse. Use of all in house systems when required. Any other reasonable duties which may be required by Site Operations Manager from time to time. Plan and control department’s day to day activities Manage and control departmental expenditure within agreed budgets Monitor and evaluate performance (in relevant areas) and take necessary action to improve Identify, analyse and communicate/report on performance & results to ensure continual improvements to Senior Management Team Facilitate meetings as appropriate Ensure that the internal procedures and controls, including the Quality Management Systems/Standard Operating Procedures & Company Handbooks are recognised, understood, updated and maintained across the company Enforce internal procedures and controls, including the Quality Management Systems/Standard Operating Procedures & Company Handbooks Review and ensure continuing suitability, adequacy and effectiveness of internal procedures and controls within area of responsibility Undertake regular sample checks of work within the department to ensure all activity meets company procedures and controls Liaise with other functional/departmental managers/supervisors to maximise communication and collaboration Manages Sickness and Absence activity including, the undertaking Return to Work interviews Effective management of Holiday’s ensuring the department and or business is sufficiently staffed. Lead, manage, motivate and develop people Undertakes Recruitment activities in line with the company Recruitment & Selection Procedures utilising support from HR as applicable Undertake effective performance management of team/department Manages conduct and performance matters including Discipline, Grievance and Capability Review, recognise and reward staff performance as appropriate Identify, plan and evaluate training and development of staff Train and mentor staff as appropriate within limitations of own authorities/knowledge, competence and resource Undertakes procurement activity in line with agreed parameters (as required) About you: The ideal candidate will be educated in Maths and English (oral and written) to GCSE, Standard Grade or equivalent; grade A-C and be able to demonstrate highly competent computer skills in all areas of Microsoft office.
