The Organisation Bield Housing and Care is one of Scotland’s leading providers of housing and support services for older people. With over 4,600 homes across 21 local authorities, a turnover of £50 million, and Scotland’s largest digital telecare service, Bield plays a vital role in enabling older people to live independently and with dignity. Now entering a new phase of growth and transformation, Bield is investing in digital innovation, expanding its housing offer, and strengthening its financial resilience. The appointment of this role completes a stabilised and ambitious Executive Management Team — and offers the right candidate the chance to help deliver Bield’s five-year business plan and long-term vision. The Role Reporting to the Chief Executive and working closely with the Board, the Director of Finance and Business Services will lead a wide-ranging portfolio including: Finance and Treasury Governance and Company Secretarial Procurement Business Planning and Performance Risk Management and Audit Oversight of the CEO’s Office and Board Support This is a strategic and operational leadership role, requiring someone who can modernise systems, drive performance, and enable innovation across the organisation. You’ll be a key contributor to Bield’s strategic direction, working collaboratively across the Executive Team to deliver meaningful, measurable impact. Key priorities in the first 12–24 months will include: Leading the transformation of finance systems, processes, and reporting Enhancing business planning, risk, and performance frameworks Supporting capital investment and borrowing strategies Building capability and confidence across the function Acting as a corporate leader and champion of Bield’s values The Ideal Candidate We’re looking for a confident, emotionally intelligent leader with the presence and capability to take full ownership of this critical function. You’ll be a qualified accountant (CCAB-recognised) with: Senior financial leadership experience in a complex organisation A strong track record in financial planning, budgeting, and treasury Experience leading change and transformation Familiarity with governance, risk, and performance frameworks The ability to influence at Board and Executive level You’ll be a strategic thinker, a strong communicator, and a people leader who thrives in complexity and is motivated by purpose. This role will suit someone who is ready to step into a top-tier leadership position — or who already operates at that level and is looking for a new, meaningful challenge. On Offer Salary: £88,589 – £96,612 per annum Car Allowance: £5,138 per annum Pension: Defined contribution scheme (6% employer / 3% employee) Holidays: 35 days including 6 fixed public holidays Working Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday Working Model: Hybrid (Edinburgh or Glasgow office base). A visible presence at the Edinburgh HQ is encouraged in the early stages to support team development and change leadership.
