We are looking for an enthusiastic, clinically minded pharmacy technician to join our newly developed Emergency Department Pharmacy Team.
The role presents a fantastic opportunity to shape pharmacy services within the acute and unscheduled care teams, allowing the successful candidate to be at the heart of a fast-paced, high-impact care environment by supporting some of the most vulnerable and complex patients within our vibrant community.
The ideal candidate will be passionate for the development of a new service through enhancement of patient pathways, medication safety and improvements in medicines reconciliation. Whether a newly qualified technician or an experienced professional seeking a fresh challenge, this role principally requires a motivated and proactive individual, capable of working independently and integrating fully within clinical teams.
Main duties of the job
In this role, you will:
* Play a key role in developing and embedding our Emergency Department (ED) pharmacy services
* Drive improvements in medicines reconciliation, discharge pathways and patient experience
* Work closely within a multidisciplinary team to prioritise and support high-risk patients
* Collaborate with clinical teams to ensure patient safety and reduce prescribing errors
* Contribute to audit, quality improvement and innovation projects
* Work across multiple departments, supporting the ED as well as our acute medical and surgical assessment units, same day emergency care service and admissions wards

Person Specification
Experience
* Significant experience of Technical pharmacy service delivery post qualification acquired through NVQ3 in Pharmacy Services or BTEC equivalent level qualification plus specialist training and experience to degree or equivalent level.
* Experience of working in a similar role
Skills
* Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
* Ability to work effectively under pressure
* Good team working skills
* Demonstrable attention to detail
* Able to work independently and prioritise tasks
Knowledge
* Understanding of Information Governance and Confidentiality
* Knowledge of Medicines Management
* Knowledge and understanding of Pharmaceutical technical procedures specific to the area of work
Qualifications
* Level 3 Diploma in Pharmacy Services Skills (NVQ) or equivalent qualification
* Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
Other requirements
* Demonstrates continued professional development or equivalent knowledge through experience
* Flexibility in working hours to suit the needs of the department
