St Mark’s School is seeking to appoint a dedicated, enthusiastic, and highly motivated Grade 3 Teaching Assistant to join our fantastic pastoral and learning support team from September 2026. The Role Working under the guidance of our SENDCo and teaching staff, you will play a pivotal role in enabling our students—particularly those with individual special educational needs and EHCPs—to fully access the curriculum, build self-esteem, and achieve their true potential. Your core responsibilities will include: Delivering targeted, high-quality 1:1 and small group learning interventions. Implementing tailored strategies outlined in student profiles and target action plans. Providing vital pastoral and emotional support, acting as a positive role model. Assisting classroom teachers in maintaining a purposeful, orderly, and inclusive learning environment. Providing clerical and administrative support to streamline student learning. Person Specification We are looking for a collaborative team player who has a deep understanding of child development and a proven track record of working with children with complex needs. Essential Criteria : Level 2 qualifications in Literacy and Numeracy (GCSE Grade 4/C or equivalent). NVQ 2 for Teaching Assistants (or equivalent qualification/experience) plus induction training, OR a minimum of 3 years of satisfactory experience as a TA/LSA with a willingness to undertake further training. Previous experience working with or caring for children of a secondary school age (paid, voluntary, or domestic). Exceptional communication skills, strong ICT competence (such as Google Suite), and a toolkit of diverse strategies to support complex learning needs. Desirable Criteria: A current first aid qualification. Specialist training in specific learning strategies (e.g., literacy/numeracy interventions or specific SEND training).
