Applications are invited for an Ernest Oppenheimer Studentship to be held at Cambridge University in Colloid Science, as broadly interpreted within the fields of biology, chemistry, physics, materials science and engineering. The Studentship is to support research projects directly leading to a PhD.
The application should be made by the designated research supervisor on behalf of the named candidate. Normally, only one application per supervisor will be considered.

Funding details
The award provides a grant at the EPSRC standard rate plus £2000 per annum, and the University Composition Fee at the home rate. Overseas students will be expected to cover the difference between the fees for overseas students and the fees for home students, whether through another award or by other means. The Studentship also attracts a contribution towards consumables and travel costs of £10,000 per annum. Special cases for an increase in this figure may be considered at the discretion of the Committee of Management.
Duration
The length of the Studentship is 3.5 years; the Studentship is to be taken up on 1 October 2026. The period of the maintenance grant is 42 months, and the contributions for consumables and for the Composition Fee are 36 months (three years).
