Job overview
On Sycamore Ward, we are looking for a highly motivated Health Care Assistant to join our experienced, friendly team.
Sycamore Ward is located within Hillview Lodge, on the grounds of The Royal United Hospital. Currently, Sycamore is piloting a 15-bed all-female ward, which will soon return to a mixed-gender ward.
We are proud of our service user and carer involvement in developing our services.
If you are positive, proactive, capable of making important decisions under pressure, and a strong team player who can take responsibility and work with a service-user-centered mindset, you might be a perfect addition to the Sycamore team.
Main duties of the job
1. Work as part of a care team to deliver evidence-based interventions to service users with mental health problems.
2. Develop and practice therapeutic care skills alongside registered clinicians, contributing significantly to the psychological, emotional, and social wellbeing of service users.
3. Ensure that care provided to service users and their relatives prioritizes safety, effectiveness, partnership, and hope.
4. Promote and support core care values by assisting junior, temporary, and newly-appointed Healthcare Support Workers.
5. Participate in the weekly community meetings attended by service users, carers, volunteers, and staff to share good news and collaboratively address areas for improvement, making the ward a safe and welcoming environment.
6. Contribute to the ward’s mission statement, support initiatives like the safe wards project and reducing restrictive practices, and engage in quality improvement projects such as sexual safety. Embrace training opportunities like trauma-informed care and leverage the ward’s active social support network.
