Job Summary
A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen within the Trust to support the People and OD Team in delivering the strategic priorities and IMTP objectives related to workforce planning. As the People Development and Education Lead for the Trust you will be an integral part of People and OD team, working collaboratively with division to ensure the actions aligned to learning and development of the workforce are integrated within service workforce plans.
As a successful candidate you will be responsible for driving forward key elements of the People Strategy by developing by leading the People Development Team to implement activities and plans that enable the effective development of our people and their skills and future capabilities that will be needed by the Trust. In this capacity the post holder is required to manage the provision of mandatory, statutory, professional, management and leadership training and education to the Velindre NHS Trust.
The post holder will need to understand the complex systems related to people development and education in NHS Wales specifically related to the education commissioning process, talent management and leadership and management development.
Main duties of the job
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Workforce Planning you will:
Support the delivery of the People Strategy, working within the Strategic Workforce Planning Team and leading on areas of education, leadership and people development within the Trust.
Effectively manage the People Development Team, taking line management responsibility for our Trainers, Leadership and Management Facilitator and People Development Administrator.
In collaboration with key stakeholders, effectively contract and negotiate with external suppliers for the provision of education and learning (i.e. education institutions and HEIW), building long term partnership approaches.
Work in collaboration with the wider People and OD Team and service leads to develop education and learning resources aligned to the organisation needs.
To ensure the Trust meets and maintains its performance and delivery in relation to education and learning, specifically reporting on the NHS Wales Statutory and Mandatory Learning compliance.
