Job Title: Consultant in Respiratory Medicine
The Respiratory Service at the Trust is seeking to recruit a Consultant in Respiratory Medicine. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and growing department based in a newly built, state-of-the-art 480-bed hospital. You will join a team of 7 Consultants providing respiratory care to a population of 400,000.
Applications are invited for a full-time, 10 PA substantive Consultant post in Respiratory Medicine at The Great Western Hospital. The role involves managing general respiratory inpatient care, including high care units, conducting respiratory clinics (general and subspecialty), participating in the general medical on-call rota, bronchoscopy, and respiratory in-reach into Acute Medicine. The successful candidate will be encouraged to develop subspecialty services.

Clinical Duties
* Work within multidisciplinary teams, engaging in regular MDT discussions
* Provide evidence-based care for patients in a multidisciplinary setting
* Maintain responsibility for patient care, including administrative duties (with secretarial support)
* Develop subspecialty interests aligned with Division needs and Trust strategy
* Participate in teaching, examinations, accreditation, and medical education activities
* Provide cover for colleagues during leave, as per Trust policies
* Engage in clinical audit and continuing medical education
* Respond to emergencies and unforeseen circumstances appropriately
* Participate in out-of-hours consultant rotas, including multidisciplinary team work for acute admissions
* Undertake ward rounds as appropriate

Management and Leadership Responsibilities
* Lead change initiatives to improve patient experience under the guidance of Lead Clinicians and the Clinical Lead
* Support policy and strategy development within the Division
* Contribute to service development and resource management within budgets
* Ensure effective communication across the Division and collaborate with other Divisions
* Supervise junior staff and participate in departmental teaching
* Participate in clinical risk management and incident investigations
