About the role As an LMP Alternative Provision Tutor you must have a can-do attitude, excellent communications skills, and a nurturing approach. You will easily engage with young people, support them to use listening skills, reflective thinking and encourage a cheerful outlook towards learning. Experience working in a SEND setting, particularly students with ADHD and ASD would be an advantage, as well as experience of restorative practice. You will develop activities and resources to meet the need of students, consult with the school lead to set targets and report on progress and behaviour. Supporting student resilience, social, emotional, mental health and wellbeing is a key part of this role. Flexibility is essential for this role as no two days are the same. You will be joining a committed team that makes a real difference to the lives of young people. Experience working in a PRU or similar alternative provision setting would be an advantage. Role and responsibilities To lead the delivery of planned sessions through activities that support student development across core subjects as well as restorative practice. To assist where necessary to support those who need extra help by offering 1-to1 support. To support the participation, retention, and progression of students in their sessions. Lead support staff members. To attend and engage in all relevant staff meetings and maintain effective communication with staff, students, and other relevant stakeholders. To undertake training and CPD as necessary and relevant to the role. To be familiar with the LMP Code of Conduct and all operational, Health & Safety, Child Protection and Data Protection policies. During times when non-attendance occurs, you are expected to contribute to the organisation. This may include creating templates or activities and saving them in OneDrive, administrative tasks, or any other duties as requested by the Manage students, reporting of any incidents to be completed on the same day and sent to your line manager. To assess the work of the students and give feedback to encourage. To ensure sessions are engaging, creative and in line with our quality assurance About you We are hiring an enthusiastic and creative Tutor to join our committed Alternative Provision. In this rewarding role, you will inspire young people aged 11-16 to learn and succeed. You must have experience working with KS3 and/or KS4 students, preferably in a SEND or alternative provision setting. Knowledge of restorative practices and trauma-informed teaching practice. Strong approaches to managing challenging behaviours are essential. The ability to build nurturing relationships with students and provide them with a platform for growth is crucial. Education and Experience Teaching / Training qualifications Experience in delivering Vocational Qualifications, including BTEC and NCFE Mentoring and Coaching Qualifications (desirable) SEND or SENCO experience Restorative Trauma- Informed and Therapeutic practice DBS 3 or more years of working with young people aged 11-16 Training and working in diverse community settings. Experience of working with young people who are hard to engage.
