Where passion meets opportunity
The best of your adventures is the one you have yet to sail
Your Purpose
We are looking for a Data Scientist to support vessel energy efficiency and emissions reduction initiatives across our cruise fleet. This role focuses on analysing vessel and operational data, developing predictive and optimisation models, and translating insights into practical actions for shipboard and shore teams.
You will help optimise fuel consumption, improve hull and engine performance, and support compliance with IMO and EU sustainability regulations.
Your Impact
Data Analysis & Insights: Analyse large-scale vessel and operational datasets, including fuel consumption, engine performance, speed, and shore power usage. Identify fuel-saving and energy-efficiency opportunities and translate findings into clear, actionable recommendations.
Performance Monitoring & Optimisation: Monitor and assess hull performance, Specific Fuel Oil Consumption (SFOC) and propulsive / non propulsive power efficiency. Track vessel performance over time and flag inefficiencies or deviations.
Modelling & Forecasting: Develop predictive models for fuel and energy demand, vessel performance and operational efficiency, emissions, and sustainability reporting. Apply optimization techniques to support operational decision-making.
Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with operational departments and IT departments. Clearly explain data-driven insights to non-technical audiences, including ship crews and senior management.
Digital Tools & Systems: Develop, validate, and maintain analytical tools and automated workflows. Support integration of models into ship-to-shore digital systems. Ensure models remain accurate and relevant as operating conditions evolve.
Your Journey so far
Bachelor's or master's degree level in data science, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
3+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or performance optimisation. Experience in maritime, energy, transportation, or industrial sectors is a strong advantage.
Strong knowledge of machine learning, AI techniques and statistical analysis.
Python or R (required), SQL (preferred) and data visualisation tools such as Power BI (required).
Experience working with operational, energy, or performance data. Familiarity with maritime operations, vessel performance, or energy efficiency concepts is highly desirable.
Ability to translate complex technical results into clear insights and recommendations. Comfortable working with cross-functional teams and shipboard personnel.
Your Essentials
The existing right to live and work in the UK is preferred.
