A few years ago, a small entrepreneurial group of industry leaders asked a question most design businesses quietly avoid: What if great interior design didn’t have to be slow?
Not rushed.
Not diluted.
Just clearer, sharper, and more decisive.
The ambition wasn’t to build another delivery machine.
It was to create a studio-quality interior design environment, one that values narrative, spatial intelligence and craft, but operates with the pace and commercial clarity usually associated with design + build delivery-led teams.
Today, that thinking underpins a quietly award-winning interior-led design team, trusted by major clients and known for producing work that moves fast without losing its soul.
This role sits right at the centre of that model.
The Role…
This is not a role where good ideas disappear into layers of process.
And it’s not a role where senior designers are pushed away from the work.
As a Senior Interior Designer, you will work closely with leadership from the very start of projects… shaping direction early, testing ideas spatially, and helping turn concepts into something real.
You will be trusted to think, decide and move.
A typical day would include…
* Translating a loose brief into a clear spatial strategy
* Producing test fits with intent … layouts that can be explained, defended and built
* Developing a design narrative, then knowing when to press forward
* Moving fluidly from concept > FF&E > specification > cost logic
* Collaborating closely with people who value good design and momentum
Projects move quickly by design.
A full pitch, from first sketch to costable design, is typically be developed in around three weeks here, before moving straight into delivery conversations.
That pace works because commercial decisions are made well and early.
If you enjoy being trusted with judgment and staying close to the point where ideas become action, this environment will energise you!
Who This Role Tends to Suit…
There’s no single mould but the Senior (or Associate-level) Interior Designers who thrive here usually share a few things in common:
* A strong studio-based interior design foundation
* Confident spatial thinking and a clear design voice
* Experience across interior-led workplace, commercial or hospitality environments
* Comfort moving between conceptual thinking and pragmatic decision-making
* An instinctive sense of when to push design… and when to get it done
* Ease working with clients, consultants and internal teams
You do not need prior design + build experience to thrive here. Just the commercial aptitude to be developed and moulded through on the job mentorship and training.
Several of the strongest individuals in the business came directly from respected studios.
What matters most is judgment, pace and curiosity.
Practicalities…
* Location: Central London – Brand new open plan office designed by the firm themselves!
* Salary guide: Circa £65,000 (flexible for the right profile)
* Bonus: Performance related bonus of up to 30%
* Working style: Predominantly office-based, highly collaborative (with flexibility to WFH when needed)
* Culture: Regular social events, a genuinely enjoyable team, and clear progression opportunities
Grõ Careers is managing this search as a priority role. To start the conversation, we ask for a CV so we can understand your background in context.
From there, selected candidates will be invited to a short, informal virtual discussion where we will explore mutual fit, walk through the firm and role in detail, and decide together whether it makes sense to progress.
In some cases, we will also help refine or reframe CVs and folios before submission. Strong designers often have the right experience, it just isn’t always presented in the way this business looks for.
Conversations are already underway with interviews being booked in, so if this resonates, we would recommend getting in touch sooner rather than later.
