As a result of a redesign of services we have a vacancy for a permanent Consultant in General Adult Psychiatry for 40 hours per week (10 Programmed Activities). Candidates unable to work whole time for personal reasons will be eligible to be considered for the post and, if appointed, an appropriately amended Job Description will be agreed.


Location

This post is based at Dr Gray’s Hospital, Elgin, a modern District General Hospital with a range of specialties and diagnostic facilities. The post is to provide Consultant input to the east Moray catchment area which includes a large swathe of rural Speyside, coastal villages and a sector of Elgin City. The team also has two other Consultants in General Adult Psychiatry and the catchment area for this post will be Elgin based.


Context and Setting

The Royal Burgh of Elgin offers a range of cultural and recreational opportunities. Moray Council are offering temporary accommodation for key workers moving to Moray to support recruitment in the public sector, including NHS roles. This opportunity is designed to help individuals who are unable to secure housing locally while starting their new job.


Responsibilities

* Provide Consultant input to General Adult Psychiatry for the east Moray catchment area.
* Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
* Register with the Continuing Professional Development Programme of the Royal College of Psychiatrists; costs met by NHS Grampian.
* Engage in audit and other elements of clinical governance; contribute to research and maintain links with the University of Aberdeen departments of Mental Health and Psychology.
* Agree a detailed Job Plan on appointment to meet service needs, taking into account experience, skills and interests.
* Engage in annual appraisal towards revalidation.


Qualifications and Registration

* Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register from date of interview.
* CERSR (Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) or Portfolio Pathway route doctors may apply for a substantive Consultant post only after CESR or Portfolio Pathway registration is awarded. Internationally recognised qualifications should have confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register.
* Applications from doctors with appropriate specialist training and experience not listed on the GMC Specialist Register can be considered for a Locum Consultant post (up to 12 months) if no substantive appointment is made; whilst locum, an application to obtain CESR or Portfolio Pathway registration can be made.
* Full GMC registration with a licence to practise is required (licence to practise must be in place prior to starting).
