Great Yarmouth Racecourse is currently recruiting for a race day Restaurant Manager.

This is a casual season position centered around the delivery of award-winning service to our guests on a race day, however there are additional dates available for the right candidate.

To be considered for this role you must be available to work shifts on the following dates:

Wednesday 14 May, Thursday 22 May, Thursday 29 May

Wednesday 11 June, Thursday 12 June, Friday 27 June,

Thursday 03 July, Wednesday 9 July, Wednesday 16 July, Thursday 24 July, Monday 28 July,

Sunday 03 August, Wednesday 06 August, Friday 15 August, Sunday 24 August,

Tuesday 16 September, Wednesday 17 September, Thursday 18 September,

Monday 06 October, Monday 13 October, Tuesday 21 October

There may also be set-up and break down shifts available around these dates if you are wanting additional work.

The Person

1. Be a team player; working as an integral part of our casual race day supervisory team to ensure everything is running smoothly
2. Be motivational; have the ability to mentor and lead your team
3. Be attentive; providing top class customer service at all times

Responsibilities

4. To oversee an area of food and beverage operation within our owners and trainers restaurant. Ensuring that the quality of product and service remain consistent in line with standard operating procedures
5. To ensure that all guests are served in an efficient, professional and courteous manner at all times.
6. To assist with the training and development of your team, developing skills and maximising performance through coaching of individual team members.
7. Responsibility for ensuring that staff are signed in/out, fully briefed and given allocated breaks in accordance to SOP’s. Adjusting staffing levels as required in line with business requirements.
8. Ensure guests receive the highest standard of customer service at all times.
9. Be able to advise guests on all products available within the venue.
10. To promote a happy and welcoming atmosphere within the venue.
11. Ensure that bar and public areas are kept clean and tidy before, during and after opening hours and to undertake cleaning duties as required – paying particular attention to Health and Safety and COSHH Guidelines.
12. Maintain stock levels and rotation behind bars and storage areas in order to avoid waste and assist with stocktaking.
13. Adhere to and follow all licensing policies and procedures.
14. Ensure that you and your team adhere to company procedures regarding allergens
15. Show commercial awareness in order to continuously drive the business forwards.
16. To be proactive in maximising sales and generating revenue.
17. To take prompt action to resolve complaints according to company policy.
18. Give clear direction and guidelines to team members.
19. To assist in the resolution of performance problems as necessary and in line with company policy.
20. Proactively motivate and encouraging team commitment and spirit.
21. Delegate and manage the distribution of work throughout the team effectively and fairly.
22. To ensure all team members adhere to company uniform standards and are dressed appropriately for their role in the correct uniform in accordance with company and health and safety regulations.
23. Ensure that PPE is worn where necessary.
24. Ensure all paperwork is completed fully in an accurate and timely manner.
25. Ensure all orders are dispensed and rung through tills using the prescribed Racecourse procedure.
26. Ensure all tills are closed down in accordance with company procedures.
27. To have clear working knowledge of all company policies and operate within them at all times.
28. To ensure staff awareness of relevant company policies.
29. Act as an information point for customers.
30. Record wastage in line with venue procedures and dispose of rubbish in line with any onsite recycling initiatives.
31. Undertake other reasonable duties in line with business demands.

Skills and Qualities

32. Proven track record in a previous relevant position.
33. An experienced leader with an eye for detail.
34. The ability to build a relationship with a new team event by event.
35. Be smart, polite, professional and well presented at all times.
36. Excellent verbal communication, interpersonal and customer care skills.
37. Flexibility, adaptability and a passion for quality standards and service.
38. The ability to handle difficult or conflict situations.
39. The ability to lead and direct others.
40. The ability to adopt the values of the Arena Racing Company.
41. The ability to work with a smile on your face whatever the weather.
42. To work with honesty and integrity.
43. Experience in operating tills and PDQ machines

The ideal candidate

44. Management experience in a high-end food and drinks business or restaurant environment
45. Be knowledgeable in licensing, food hygiene and health & safety theory and implementation
46. Personal License Holder (desirable)
47. Customer focused at all times
48. Good planning and organisational skills
49. Ability to maximise sales opportunities and recommend improvements
50. Ability to drive operational standards, championing attention to detail and exceed customer expectations
51. Positive and approachable manner
52. Team player qualities
53. Good oral communication
54. High level of attention to detail
