Job Title: Lead Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Rochester – On-site (work from home ½ day Friday)

Our client, an established aerospace & defence manufacturing firm in Rochester, requires an experienced Lead Mechanical Design Engineer to join their multi-disciplined team.
What the role of the Lead Mechanical Design Engineer entails:
Some of the main duties of the Lead Mechanical Design Engineer will include:
* Prepare and present Mechanical Development Plans, Design Scheme Data Packs, and other engineering detail for internal review and in a customer forum.
* Peer check work of other mechanical engineers, including designs, design data, hand calculations, and technical reports.
* Chair design review panels at functional and project levels, both internally and with customers.
* Prepare project plans, direct a team in their implementation, and monitor and report progress and spend against budgets.
* Devise and maintain resource plans and manage allocation of Mechanical Engineering resources to meet project demands.
* Prepare estimates in support of new bids and support the generation of proposals and documentation.
* Coordinate and conduct Performance and Development Reviews, and provide input to Salary Reviews for the Mechanical Engineering Team.
* Ensure adherence to departmental and company policies and procedures by Mechanical Team members and Project Teams.
What experience you need to be the successful Lead Mechanical Design Engineer:
* Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline, or an equivalent combination of qualifications and experience.
* A proven track record of product development from concept through to production within an engineering environment.
* Previous team leading and/or project management experience.
* Experience related to avionic systems, optical displays, mechatronics, electronics packaging, anthropometrics, design with composites, additive layer manufacture, and test and measurement equipment, will be valuable.
* Experience in preparing technical datasets (drawings/MBD).
* Competence in CAD tools, ideally CREO, and experience with TeamCenter, DOORs, and JIRA, is advantageous.
