FINTEC recruit is seeking a Marine Project Engineer for our marine client based in South Shields. This is a permanent role based on site where you will be part of the planning and delivery of engineering projects for RN vessels working within the commercial team. Salary is in the £35,000 to £40,000 range depending on experience plus benefits.
Responsibilities:
* Involved in technical aspects/scopes of project delivery. Full cycle from initial request to execution and delivery of projects
* Work closely with internal and external stakeholders in developing and implementing engineering solutions
* Oversee engineering implementation of upgrades and modifications onboard vessels
* Provide engineering input & oversight both on-site and remotely when required
* Liaise with MOD representatives ensuring technical alignment and compliance with defence standards
* Support the preparation of detailed work packages; monitor and resolve technical issues
* Maintain accurate technical documentation and contribute to project reporting.
* Assist in cost and resource estimation, change control, and continuous improvement activities.
* Attend project client meetings as the lead engineer
Skills and Qualifications required for the Marine Project Engineer:
* HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical, Marine, or Electrical Engineering (or similar discipline).
* Experience of Royal Navy, RFA or MOD managed assets is desirable
* Knowledge of Classification Society, Flag State & defence specific regulations
* Proven experience in a project engineering role, ideally within defence or marine sectors.
* Strong technical problem-solving skills with a hands-on understanding of engineering systems.
* Ability to manage multiple technical workstreams and liaise with diverse stakeholders.
* Familiarity with engineering project lifecycles, maintenance planning, and OEM coordination.
* Project Management training or certification (eg Prince 2 / APM or equivalent desirable (not an essential)
