Are you an experienced Civils Design Manager seeking a role that allows you to balance technical involvement with team development? This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-regarded civil engineering contractor with a strong and growing presence in the renewables sector.
The Role
This is a dual-focused position that combines technical design delivery with team leadership. You’ll play a pivotal role in producing high-quality design outputs while also building and mentoring a dedicated in-house design team. Collaborating closely with clients, project teams, and external consultants, you’ll help deliver efficient, innovative, and buildable solutions across a broad range of civil and infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
Take the lead on the design of civil engineering and renewables projects
Produce detailed drawings, calculations, and technical documentation
Build and manage a growing internal design capability
Work closely with construction teams to ensure practical design solutions
Coordinate and oversee the work of external design consultants
Promote value engineering and cost-effective design approaches
Ensure full compliance with industry standards, legislation, and best practice
About You
Solid background in civil engineering design with hands-on technical expertise
Comfortable producing design outputs, not just overseeing the process
Proven experience in leading and mentoring design teams
Familiar with working in either a contractor or consultancy setting
Experience with substation projects is advantageous
Proficient in design tools such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar
Strong communicator with a proactive, collaborative mindset
